Jack--1 Month Old

Jack at 4 Weeks
Holding my Binky by myself!
Jack has been a great addition to our family.  We are soaking up every minute of his newborn sweetness!  In the past month he has grown so much, and now weighs 10 lbs, 6 ozs.  After some feeding issues at the hospital, Jack has become quite the little eater.  He decides he wants to eat every 2 and a half to 3 hours, making it hard for Mommy to get much sleep.  Because he loves to eat I gave him the nick name "Munchie"!

Caught napping with Mommy after a long night!
After being home for 2 weeks, Joe had to go back to work.  It has been a hard transition for us both! It was very hard for him to leave the house in the morning because he doesn't want to leave our baby, so Jack and I send him picture messages during the day so he knows what we are doing while he's away.  It has been hard for me too, because while Joe was home, he was able to help with diaper changes and getting up to comfort Jack in the middle of the night.  Because I was recovering from my C-Section, Joe stepped up with all of the chores around the house as well as helping with the baby.  What a great hubby I have!  Now that Joe has returned to work, he needs more rest during the night, so I take care of Jack through the night.  Gone are the days of sleeping in until 10am!  Now 4 straight hours of sleep would be a blessing!

Next to my blue hippo at exactly 1 month
(I will take this same pic every month to see his growth over time!)
Joe's Mom, Mericia(Jack's Vovo) has been here, but she goes home this weekend.  She has been a great help with the laundry, cleaning, cooking and helping out when needed.  Jack loves to snuggle with her!  He is going to miss her when she goes home, but soon my Dad will be coming and Jack will get to meet his Grandpa and Grandma for the first time!  We are looking forward to their arrival!

Jack seems to have lots of gas, so the doctor told us to try reflux medicine.  I'm not too sure he has reflux, my feeling is he just has gas, but we are going to try it to see if it helps.  If he doesn't seem to need it, we won't give it to him.

Mommy Love

Daddy Love
4 Weeks
  • Loves to ride in the car--he sleeps the whole time!
  • Very alert when awake
  • Has explosive poops--we can hear them across the room!
  • Seems to enjoy the tub bath better than the sponge bath
  • Tried a bottle for the first time--no issues and ate really fast
  • Smiles/makes faces while he sleeps and exercises the muscles in his face:
    • frowns complete with curled down lip
    • half smiles and smiles
    • laughs--a whole belly laugh
    • moves his lips like he is eating
  • Is very good at the doctor.  Let's the doctor do whatever they need to without crying or fussing!
  • Has gas or possible reflux--we'll have to wait and see... Very twisty and grunts in his sleep
  • Is starting to lose his hair in the front of his head--looks like he will have a mullet for a little while!
